POSITION SUMMARY:

The University of Saint Mary is seeking a full-time faculty member (twelve-month contract) to teach a variety of courses related to Accounting and Finance within the Division of Business and Information Technologies and coach the university trading team. The person will join a division of full-time faculty members dedicated to excellence in teaching and student advising who are committed to upholding IACBE and HLC accreditation standards. Teaching assignments will be predominately on-ground at the Leavenworth campus. Coaching responsibilities include meeting with and coaching students and maintaining team financial records and reports. Faculty rank is assigned depending on credentials and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Faculty):

  • Ability to teach variety of topics related to accounting and finance; including courses such as Accounting 1, Accounting 2, and Principles of Finance
  • Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course(s) assigned;
  • Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback;
  • Manage and foster an inclusive educational environment to serve all learners;
  • Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy;
  • Submit mid-term and final grades on time;
  • Maintain office hours for student contact and support;
  • Advise students as assigned;
  • Demonstrate professionalism with students, faculty, staff, and administration;
  • Timely attendance at all required training, Division meetings, and university-related meetings;
  • Complete all required training, including LMS and HR compliance;
  • Maintain expertise in discipline through scholarly activities;
  • Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies;
  • Assist with accreditation reporting;
  • Actively participate in governance, university committee(s), and other service activities;
  • Participate in A-Spire Day activities and workshops; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (STT Coach):

  • Coach, train, and support student securities trading team members through research and trade recommendations;
  • In conjunction with team leaders/administrators, recruit and select new student team members;
  • Monitor and review the preparation and distribution of the daily trade tracking report;
  • Coordinate weekly team meetings with Trading Team Partners;
  • Communicate/coordinate with university accounting office, student financial aid office, and other university stakeholders;
  • In conjunction with student team members, prepare and deliver presentations for the University Board of Trustees’ Finance Committee;
  • Prepare annual Trading Team budget;
  • Consult with outside accountant/CPA as required; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting- or Finance-related field in combination with appropriate industry experience is required. Doctorate degree is preferred or a combination of graduate level courses in the discipline and appropriate industry experience to meet HLC credential requirements.
  • At least two years of full-time (or full-time equivalent) teaching experience in higher education, on-ground, in-person courses strongly preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Additionally, candidates should have an affinity to the mission of the university.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
