CatFace is a YouTube entertainment company, home to a family of channels with over 25 million combined subscribers and an average of 300 million views per month. Our goal is to entertain our audience with fun, light-hearted narratives and entertaining content for general audiences. A vital component of our business is creating multiple unique stories every week in order to keep our audience engaged.

About the Job

We are seeking a talented Concept Artist to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will take initial creative ideas and transform them into fully realized visual concepts, shaping the visual direction of characters and other elements for animated content. This role requires adaptability, strong time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Effective communication with upper management and team members is essential.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US. Core Working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm CST. This is a fully remote position .

What You'll Do

• Brainstorm and generate conceptual art for characters, environments, and story elements in a Minecraft-inspired aesthetic, ensuring alignment with the projects artistic vision, target audience, and narrative goals
• Produce detailed sketches, pixel-based illustrations, and blocky concept art for new characters, settings, and visual assets that reflect the distinct visual language of Minecraft.
• Develop visually compelling and unique character designs that reflect the story, personality, and world-building of the project.
• Ensure all artistic concepts and designs remain consistent with the established brand visual style and narrative tone of the project.
• Incorporate feedback from directors, peers, and other team members to refine designs, ensuring the final artwork meets expectations and project requirements.
• Work efficiently to meet project deadlines, particularly in fast-paced production environments.
• Be receptive to changing design directions based on feedback, evolving storylines, and project needs. Adapt to the fast-paced nature of the creative production process.
• Navigate ambiguity and demonstrate strong self-management skills when needed.
• Coordinate with other teams to deliver necessary assets and maintain an organized asset library using Dropbox.
• Maintain a genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling characters and contributing to the artistic vision of the project.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years of concept artist experience in a production environment or freelance.
• A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in character and environmental design.
• Strong familiarity with the Minecraft platform and aesthetic.
• Proficiency in design, form, color theory, and lighting.
• Ability to sketch, paint, or draw in a variety of artistic styles.
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entertainment environment.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective feedback exchange.
• Experience with productions utilizing 3D software such as Maya or Blender is a plus.
• Able to work remotely with a reliable Wi-Fi connection and all necessary equipment.
