Ticket Checkers are responsible for greeting on mountain guests, act as a source for mountain information, and provide on mountain ticket and line management. This position will spend their full shift outdoors on the mountain or in the base areas. Flexibility, excellent guest service skills, enjoyment of the outdoors and the mountain environment are a must. We want you to be able to ride daily so that you can share your first hand knowledge and enthusiasm for Big Sky with our guests. Ability to ski/ride at an intermediate or higher level is a plus, but not a must. All other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:If you are excited about skiing or riding everyday and sharing your knowledge/enthusiasm of the mountain with guests, then this is a great opportunity for you.
Ticket Checkers will be in continuous contact with guests, employees and the Mountain Operations team including: Lift operations, Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, and the Road Crew, throughout their work day. The Mountain Services team works directly or indirectly with all other departments and divisions at the resort.
Ticket Checkers can be in many different places on the mountain but will always be present in both the Mountain Village and Madison base areas. For that reason, we will have Ticket Checker Leads and supervisors stationed in those areas on a daily basis. If Ticket Checkers are outside of the base areas, they will be working independently and will be required to check in periodically with their supervisor.
Ticket Checkers must be able to operate independently and as a team to facilitate the amazing experiences that our guests expect while visiting our resort. They must be able to communicate effectively with each other, throughout the Mountain Services division, as well as to the general public to provide efficient access to the mountain. Ticket Checkers are a part of the Outside Operations department within the Mountain Services division. The Mountain Services division works directly or indirectly with all other departments and divisions throughout the resort.
Ticket Checkers will spend extensive amounts of time in the outdoor environment. Temperatures in the mountains in Montana can be quite cold and windy and our team will need to be outside during even in inclement weather.
There is a significant amount of general area and ticketing knowledge that each Ticket Checker must learn to successfully assist resort guests. A week of paid training at the beginning of employment will provide much of that information, but spending off time at the resort and the surrounding area is necessary to gain additional knowledge.
